Key Stage 5 Results

Hitchin Boys’ School Sixth Form is pleased to release our latest set of results at Key Stage 5; they provide compelling evidence that we continue to be the destination of choice for “Boys with Serious Ambition,” no matter their starting point or circumstances.

There are many examples of pupils who have, through sheer determination and will, met with success; the following, whom we name, provide only a brief glimpse into the many individual success stories of this year’s cohort. We are proud of them all, but especially proud of Joe C, who, having achieved A*A*A*A, takes up a place at Durham University; his story is a story of growth, resilience and victory in the face of adversity, as is that of Kaiser Q, who takes up a place at Exeter University to study Politics. 

We also wish Will D well as he embarks upon his Vet Medicine degree at Churchill College, Cambridge. Siam I takes up a place at Manchester to read Medicine, and he will be joined there by Lucas W with A*A*A*.

This year, there has been a bit of a reversal of a trend in Bath and Exeter being our biggest destinations; Durham and Warwick appear to have overtaken them. We will be sending up 8 boys in total to these august institutions, including Joe Callis with A*A*A*, Josh Horne with A*A*A*A, and Jack Steddy with A*A*A.

H Cooper, who left last year with an A* in Computer Science, A* in Physics and A* in Maths deserves congratulations for a brief return in order to secure a further A*  in Further Maths, bringing his total to 4 A*s. We are hugely pleased for him. 

Our Serious Ambition is not at all narrowly focused on universities either; we have Henry F, who has been successful in his application for the exceptionally competitive spaces at RADA, Griff C-R takes up a degree apprenticeship with the Civil Service, and Kushad D does the same for Network Rail. Mr Bennett, our Headteacher, said: “It is often too easy to forget that in any set of results there are many, many stories of individuals who have overcome significant obstacles to even arrive at the exam hall; these results this year are ones where I feel particularly proud, that we have known each boy for who they were and who they could become and we have supported them along the way. I am grateful to the staff and parents whose tireless endeavours make these aspirations a reality.”

As a School, we pride ourselves on creating a Hitchin Man at the end of a seven-year process; each Hitchin Man leaving us this year goes forward into the world knowing their gifts and well prepared to find their purpose so as to live happy and fulfilled lives. We wish them all the very best that life can offer.
