International Competition for Young Debaters

We had the first round of the ICYD Competition in the historic Cambridge Union on Saturday 31st January. It is a Juniors/Amateur competition and our Senior Deputy Head, Mr Ajagbonna took 8 boys from Year 8-10. You can see them in action and on the dais, which has been shared by many notables including but not limited to Winston Churchil and the Dalai Lama. The boys did really well, Barnaby and George, who were in HBS Anubis and debating for their first time "broke" to reserve ranking 6th out of 35 teams, they beat teams from the independent sector and were only 2 points away from breaking to the Finals and indeed they may well still break if two teams drop out. 

A fantastic result for our boys at such an early stage of their debating journey.
